A staple of MTCHS is the tech party. Held several times a year, tech parties attract a majority of the students at MTCHS, as well as gamers from all over the area. In an average tech party we will have anywhere from 100 to 150 people buy tickets and show up at the party. Our main attractions are the Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty tournaments, but we also have many other features, including an MS Paint competition, Dance Dance Revolution, various console gaming, and traditional door prizes, which normally last all through the night. We also, of course, have a large area where anyone can set up their computers and do as they please (school appropriate, of course) over the network. With the ticket tech partiers receive a voucher for two pieces of pizza and two vouchers for a canned drink. Normally we consume about 30 pizzas.
You are now allowed to play tournaments with your own computer! Because of this, table space is very limited; only 36 table spots are available. Make sure you sign up before noon on the day of the Tech Party! Anyone who doesn't have a reserved seat by noon will be denied until everyone who has reserved a table sets up. This can take as long as an hour, and seats are not guaranteed. You will not be allowed to sign up for a table until you have purchased a ticket.
At Tech Parties, many tournaments are offered, including Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty tournaments. Make sure to sign up for tournaments with your full name, not aliases. Those who sign up with aliases will be taken off of the roster. All team members must be present before the match begins. Teams with missing members will automatically forfeit. Friendly fire is allowed but not suggested. Cheaters will be disqualified. Mini-mice will be supplied for those who use the school's computers. For those who wish to use their own hardware, school laptops have 3 USB ports available for use.
The game type will be 5 vs. 5 Conquest. Matches will consist of two ten-minute rounds. At the beginning of each round, each team will select a representative. A coin will be tossed and the team that calls it correctly gets to choose the map. The losing team gets to choose what side they start out on. Teams will switch sides between the first and second round.
The game type will be 5 vs. 5 Search and Destroy. A map will be randomly chosen from the following list.
Be at the tournament on time.
Speakers are not allowed. Headphones must be used. Power strips are now provided. You do not need your own. All network cables used must belong to the school. This prevents theft. Setup of computers will not begin until 3:00PM. You must store your computers in the closet adjacent to the multipupose room. If you have not registered for a table, you will be denied one until all registrants are seated. Seating is restricted to the table you registered for only. P2P software is not allowed. Anyone caught using it will be disconnected from the network and will not be allowed to rejoin. Internet access is still filtered.
