Internship

  • Students complete 280 hours at a business location under the supervision of a mentor in the areas of computer programming/web development, electronics/pre-engineering, computer networking/PC repairs, and media arts.
  • Hiring Times for Senior Interns:
    • Summer Intern (280 Hours):
      • Hire in May
      • Begin Internship in June
      • 20-25 hours per week
  • Fall-Spring Intern (280 Hours):
    • Hire in early September
    • Intern Hours Monday-Friday 1:00-5:00 PM on school days:
    • 10-20 hours per week

Projects

  • A project provides students with the opportunity to apply both customer service and technical skills linking to the business community.
  • These projects are compeleted under the direction of technology teachers and is an extra volunteer student project.
  • This project is in addition to the regular course work.
  • Student compensation will be in the form of volunteer service hours, stipends, and/or scholarships.

Process

  1. Complete and submit Internship Request Form.
  2. Upon receipt of request, you will be notified if request is approved.
  3. Upon approval of request, dates will be determined for résumé submission, interviews, and start dates.
  4. Students will be notified of the internship and apply for the position.
  5. Conduct interviews to select intern from pool of candidates.
  6. Meet with the Workbased Learning Coordinator, Cheryl Deitchler, and student to sign agreement form and to review student and school expectations.

  • Any other information that you deem important (such as supplies you will need or supplies you will bring)

Job Shadow

A Job Shadow is where one or two of our students follow full-time workers for a few hours so that they can see what type of work they do as well as experience their standard daily schedule. This also allows the students to see what it is like to work in a corporate environment.

Site Visit

A site visit is a tour of your business by a group of students.

The following information can be submitted on the form under Contact Us:

  • Location of business
  • Proposed time
  • Proposed length

Donations

Another way to partner with our school is through donations. Some donations that we have received from partners include the following:

  • Computer equipment
  • Grants
  • Snacks, chips, pizza for tech parties
  • Food for student club meetings
  • Prizes such as mousepads, computer mice, computer software
