We are incredibly grateful for our School Resource Officer, Officer Sunada, for spending time with our Sophomore Health Class today. Officer Sunada spoke candidly about the dangers of illegal drugs—most specifically fentanyl—and the very real impact it has on communities like ours. Officer Smith joined us to observe and support the discussion as well.
These kinds of conversations aren’t easy, but they are necessary. The crisis isn’t just something happening in big cities… it’s here. Hearing firsthand experiences from someone who has seen the realities and heartbreaking consequences of lethal drugs like fentanyl and carfentanil... often hidden in other forms... makes a powerful difference for our students.
We were proud of how attentive our students were and appreciated the thoughtful questions and feedback they shared.
Officer Sunada, thank you for your time, your patience, and the genuine care and concern you show for our students every day. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Meridian Police Department for their partnership and commitment to keeping our students and community safe. 💙

🎉🐉 We are beyond proud to celebrate our MTCHS 2025 Youth Innovation Challenge winners — Team Soil to Serve! 🐉🎉
As part of Boise Entrepreneur Week’s Youth Innovation Challenge, Idaho high school students were invited to tackle real-world agricultural challenges through a reverse pitch competition. This year’s focus: creating innovative revenue opportunities for one-product farms and helping small agricultural businesses better deliver their products and services.
Our team —Brady, and Elias, and Daysia, — identified a real challenge facing small-scale farmers: limited time and resources for marketing and distribution often mean portions of their harvest go unsold.
Their solution? Soil to Serve — a digital farmers’ marketplace designed to connect local producers directly with consumers, allowing farmers to focus on what they love most: farming. 🌱
🏆 The team was awarded $3,000, with $1,000 coming back to MTCHS to support future innovators!

Thank you, Trailhead, for sponsoring this great challenge as part of Boise Entrepreneur Week.
As part of CTE Month, our Work-Based Learning Coordinator/Career Counselor, Jenni Bradford, took students Carlos and Miranda to represent SkillsUSA at the CTSO Showcase in the Capitol Rotunda, sponsored by the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education.
Carlos and Miranda did an outstanding job sharing their experiences in SkillsUSA and showing off one of our robots! 🤖 Carlos is pictured speaking with Representative Hill and visiting with a House page during the event.
Students had the opportunity later to explore behind the scenes at the Capitol. In the House Chambers, they met Sergeant-at-Arms Jeff Wall, and in the Senate Chambers, they connected with Randy Lyons, who serves as Doorkeeper. They also peeked into the Attorney General’s Office and the Governor’s Office as part of their visit.
We are incredibly proud of how these students represented MTCHS and helped highlight the value of hands-on learning through SkillsUSA and CTE programs!
